Gertrud Barkhorn

Gertrud Barkhorn is a Karlsland witch and senior member of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing in Strike Witches. Based on German ace Gerhard Barkhorn, she is one of the unit's strongest and most disciplined fighters.

Strict, hardworking, and protective, Barkhorn often behaves like an older sister, especially toward younger witches. Her seriousness is balanced by embarrassment when others notice her softer side.

Barkhorn has immense magical strength, uses heavy machine guns, and can support demanding Striker Unit maneuvers. Her friendship with Erica Hartmann contrasts order and laziness, while concern for her injured sister Chris motivates much of her determination.
