Hotaru Ichijo

Hotaru Ichijo is an elementary school student who moves from Tokyo to the rural village of Asahigaoka in Non Non Biyori. She joins a tiny mixed-age class and quickly becomes close to Renge, Natsumi, Komari, and Suguru.

Polite, mature, and academically capable, Hotaru often appears older than her age. Around Komari, however, she becomes intensely enthusiastic and secretly makes numerous plush dolls modeled after the older girl.

City maturity and her devotion to Komari

Hotaru adapts to country life through seasonal trips, school events, and everyday exploration. Her friendship with the local children helps her appreciate the village, while her exaggerated admiration for Komari supplies a recurring contrast to her composed public manner.
