Ika Musume, also called Squid Girl, is the sea-born protagonist of Shinryaku! Ika Musume. She comes ashore planning to conquer humanity as punishment for ocean pollution but is quickly made to work at the Lemon beach house after damaging it in Shinryaku Ika Musume Squid Girl.

Her squid-like hair functions as powerful tentacles, and she can swim, glow, spit ink, and regenerate quickly. Daily life gradually turns her failed invasion into an adopted place within the beach community.
