Imoko Shishido is Akiha Shishido's small robotic companion in The Girl Who Leapt Through Space.

Imoko Shishido's support of Akiha

Often called Imo-chan, Imoko accompanies Akiha through the colony conflicts and serves as a practical assistant, observer, and trusted friend. Her unusual potato-like robot body gives her a comic appearance without reducing her importance to Akiha.

A robot companion with an independent perspective

Imoko's experiences away from Akiha, including time spent observing Nerval's attempts to understand human behavior, help her bring information and emotional insight back to the group.
