Mikuru Asahina

Mikuru Asahina is a member of the SOS Brigade in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and secretly a time traveler from the future. She is assigned to observe Haruhi Suzumiya because Haruhi's unconscious powers affect the structure of reality.

Gentle, timid, and easily embarrassed, Mikuru often becomes the target of Haruhi's costumes and schemes. Her older future self is calmer and more mysterious, revealing that she understands more than her younger version can disclose.

Future restrictions, Haruhi, and her different-age identities

Mikuru uses future technology and limited time travel rather than combat powers. Her relationship with Kyon is constrained by secrecy, and different ages of Mikuru sometimes guide him toward events required by the future timeline.
