Mio Akiyama

Mio Akiyama is the bassist and one of the main songwriters of the light music club in K-ON!. She joins after Ritsu Tainaka pressures her and later performs in the band Ho-kago Tea Time.

Serious, shy, and academically responsible, Mio has intense fears of embarrassment and frightening subjects. Onstage confidence develops slowly, supported by the teasing and loyalty of her friends.

Bass, songwriting, and overcoming stage fright

Mio plays left-handed bass, writes lyrics, and sings lead vocals on several songs. Her close friendship with Ritsu, along with Yui, Tsumugi, and Azusa, helps her accept public performance and preserve music as part of life after graduation.
