Naofumi Iwatani

Naofumi Iwatani is the Shield Hero and principal protagonist of The Rising of the Shield Hero. Summoned to another world as one of four Cardinal Heroes, he is falsely accused, socially ostracized, and forced to survive with almost no support.

Naofumi becomes distrustful, pragmatic, and protective, but gradually recovers his capacity for compassion through the people who remain loyal to him. The Legendary Shield grants defensive forms, barriers, support abilities, and the dangerous Curse Series, while preventing him from using ordinary weapons.
