Papyrus

Papyrus is a skeleton monster and aspiring member of the Royal Guard in Undertale. He sets puzzles for the human protagonist but quickly becomes more interested in friendship than capture.

Papyrus' combat role and personal arc

Papyrus is enthusiastic, theatrical, confident, innocent, and deeply kind despite his claims of greatness. He uses bone attacks, blue soul magic, elaborate puzzles, and surprisingly controlled combat that avoids killing the player.

Papyrus's abilities and defining relationships

His brother Sans teases and protects him, while Undyne trains him without fully endorsing his ambitions. Papyrus's ability to believe in nearly everyone makes him a moral counterpoint to the Underground's fear.
