Raphtalia is a demi-human swordswoman and the primary companion of Naofumi in The Rising of the Shield Hero. Freed from slavery by Naofumi, she grows rapidly through combat and helps challenge the false accusations against him.

Raphtalia is compassionate, disciplined, brave, and deeply loyal, while retaining trauma from captivity and the destruction of her village. She specializes in swordsmanship, illusion magic, light and dark techniques, and later gains status connected to Q'ten Lo.
