Reno Ichikawa is Kafka Hibino's younger Defense Force partner and one of the first people to learn his kaiju secret in Kaiju No. 8.

Reno initially criticizes Kafka's lack of progress, but quickly recognizes his determination and becomes fiercely protective of him. Training with the Defense Force transforms Reno from a cautious recruit into a dependable combatant willing to face increasingly dangerous kaiju.

His compatibility with Numbers Weapon 6 gives him ice-based power suited to controlling the battlefield. His friendship with Kafka and rivalry with Iharu Furuhashi support his growth without replacing his own ambition to become stronger.
